So, I recently had the amazing opportunity to try out for the L.A. Kings EBUG(Emergency Back-Up Goalie). Due to more new N.H.L. rules this season, every team is required to have an EBUG on hand for all home games. In the event both goalies go down for a team, the EBUG has to come in and play. The EBUG is available for both teams. For every goalie who never did anything, this is the ultimate dream. I was lucky enough to get the call to tryout and here is how things went.
So, last night I got an email from Luc Robitaille, letting me know that I was invited to attend the tryouts for the L.A. Kings Official Number 1 Emergency Back-Up Goaltender. I am still kind of in shock, which isn't cool because tryouts are tomorrow. I have been dreaming of this for over 20 years, never knowing if the Kings would have open tryouts for such an amazing position. Other organizations have done it but I never held much delusion that they would. I got into hockey late, so I never really had the chance to dream of playing in the N.H.L.
Now, 29 other goalies of no renown and I will face off for the chance to dream just a little bit more. This kind of goes to one of the core ideas of Wolf and Crown Hockey Co., that no matter how old you get, or how slow you get, you always want to try and be a better hockey player. It's gonna be a blast. I already got a DM from trav4oilers, who is flying in from Canada to try out. Who knows who else is going to be there. Thanks to everyone who has wished me luck so far, I'm gonna need it. Alright, it's that time of year again, for the last time. It's time for Frozen Fury, the Los Angeles Kings annual preseason game/games in Las Vegas, NV. Until we started winning Cups, it was usually the highlight of every Kings Fan able to attend. This is going to be the last year for the event and the first year it will be in T-Mobile Arena. I'm excited to see the new N.H.L. arena, even though the intimacy of the Grand Garden Arena will be missed. Next year, we will have the (insert stupid adjective here) Knights in Las Vegas, so that will put a nix on the awesome festivities.
We are leaving tomorrow early, to get in on the party. I can't wait to see how the Gauntlet manifests itself. We're only going to the game on Saturday, but we are attempting to crash the pre-party at Tom's Urban on Friday night. The whole trip, we will be doing some Instagram Stories and posts, so make sure you follow us on Instagram. We'll probably throw some Facebook feeds in there too. If you see a Wolf & Crown hat around town, don't be afraid to say hi! On a side note, we have a little hold up at our printers, so our New Season Release won't be out until a few games into the season. We hate being late, but it'll be worth the wait to get it right.
